It has been a while!

I know it has been a while since my last post but I have been swamped with final exams/tieing up loose ends at the end of the year!  Now it is finally summer!!! yay! =]

Most people hit the pool/beach for summer but this summer I have a HUGE project that I’m trying to put together for JRA awareness/funding.  In Washington DC I met a young man who lives in NewYork who is an amazing musician.  I am working with him to put together a huge symphony hall benefit concert next year sometime.  While this is atleast a year away, I need to make connections and get things lined up now.  Two days ago I spoke with my contact at Vanderbilt Medical Hospital about getting Vandy to help sponsor this event.  I’m working on getting a date lined up as we speak!  Also, I already have a meeting lined up with Sarah Ingram (daughter in law of Martha Ingram–Ingram Barge) about hopefully getting support.  I am going to pull all of my strings in Nashville to get a few country artists willing to preform at this event.  The name of this would be, “Country Meets Classic Helping Kids.” Catchy right?! =] I’m so excited that this might actually happen! The best part is that all the profits from this event would go to MS research and Arthritis research at Vanderbilt Medical Hospital!  There is still a lot to be done, but I will keep you posted! If anyone has any ideas/contacts that you think would be willing to help me….definitely let me know!!

This past weekend I spent 4 days in Washington DC. I met some of the most incredible people. There were over 35,000 applicants from all over the country wanting to be recognized for their outstanding community service efforts. There was one high school and one middle school lever student representing each state. I was the high school honoree for Tennessee. While in DC we toured, met with our senators, met Peyton Manning (WOW!!), honored for our accomplishments in helping the community, but most importantly being able to hang out with kids from all over the country and hear their stories. This weekend changed my life. I have never felt so honored to be in the presence of such amazing people. Below (hopefully if it works) is a slideshow of just a few photos taken during our trip to our nations captial. Enjoy!
Also, I just wanted to say thank you to all of the amazing people I met during these 4 days. You are all truly an inspiration to everyone.
